The Porsche Taycan is configurable: standard onboard charger is 9.6 kW (40A), but the optional 22 kW (80A) onboard charger — popular in Europe — also accepts up to 19.2 kW on US 240V wiring. For top trims, look at the Grizzl-E Ultimate (80A) — anything less leaves capacity on the table.
How to charge your Porsche Taycan
Pull up close
Charge port is on the passenger side. Park so the cable reaches comfortably.
Open the port
Wave your hand near the port. DC fast charging port is on the driver side
Plug it in
Insert the J1772 connector fully — you'll feel a click. Press the release button on top of the handle to remove.
Confirm it's charging
Look for a steady green light on the charger and a charging icon on the dashboard. Most cars take 5–10 seconds to handshake.
Set & forget
Use your charger's app to schedule for off-peak rates (usually 11 PM – 7 AM). Saves $200–$500/yr on most utility plans.
